the Ipad or rather tablets more in particular are being used in more and more areas of life due to their portability and convenience. Also because it is a form of convergence technology that has been successful people are using it. Also it is mainly the portability of a tablet that results in people using tablets for small things like checking their emails or visiting a social networking site. Also the reduced time required for booting results in the tablet trouncing PC's.
I think the Ipad wont last that long due to the price of it. I recently read in chip that they predict that utrabooks will be around 40,000 in feb of next year.... Due to this I don't think the future is in the Ipad 3..
