Advantages and disadvantages of networks
What are clients, servers and hosts?
Network topologies - Ring, Star, Bus, Redundant topology ( ADV)
Mainframe and Supercomputers - Grid computing and distributed processing.

P2 & P3: Basics of network types, network terms and tools.

What is Ethernet, peer to peer, client server networks? ( ADV)
LAN and WAN ( Why)
Virtual LAN
Internet and intranet
Extranet
VPN
Router, Switch, and hubs
Connect to internet - TV cable, ADSL ( Asynchronous DSL), Analog dial-up, Glass fiber, Wire less, Mobile phone network,

P4: Paper two orientation
P5: Paper two discussion example

P6:

LAN - Ethernet, WLAN, Bluetooth
NOS, Cloud computing
RAID ( redundant array of inexpensive disks)

P1, P2, P3 : Completion of case study research by all students. discuss about the answers and keep soft copy for later use to prepare Paper 3 ( HL). SL students will work on their IA during this time.
